Who We Are

The Developmental TIPS project began in 2000. Developmental TIPS (Tracking Infant Progress Statewide) is funded by the Nebraska Departments of Health and Human Services and Education, and participating hospitals.

The purpose of Developmental TIPS is to implement a statewide program that provides specialized developmental follow-up for babies who have been in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Nebraska. The objectives of the project are to:

1. Facilitate the enrollment process for Developmental TIPS at participating hospitals across Nebraska.
2. Implement developmental follow-up procedures for children having a NICU experience of 72 hours or longer.
3. Support program sites in disseminating information about the Early Development Network (EDN) to families before and after discharge.
4. Collect and analyze health and developmental outcome data for young children with a NICU experience.
5. Implement a referral process to the EDN.
